Give some background on where you are fishing. A lot of the answers will stem from water clarity, depth you are fishing, cover, etc.

For example, I'll throw ripbaits on 16lb test most of the time if I can get away with it, but if the water is very clear, I'll go down to 12 or 14lb test. In some cases for pressured fish it may be worth it to go down to 10lb test.

The same is true for c-rig. I'll use 20lb floro leader most of the time for c-rig if I can get away with it, but as the water gets clearer I'll go down in size all the way down to 12lb.
