What is the best bait to use in Southern CA for this time of year?
Also what's up with this new swimbait crazy. I know I'm new to bass fishing but it seems like its really a big thing. Should I follow the trend or try and learn how to catch fish with regular baits.

It depends on the water you are fishing. Plastics always work, cranks, spinner baits, top water early and late in the day. Work mudlines with jigs and reaction baits. And if all else fails drop shot
