1496, New to swimbaits, and got a dumb question...
Posted by cotton, Tue Jul-19-05 06:53 AM
I recently bought my first real swimbait, a castaic trout (hard head with a lip, soft body) and it runs to the right and on its side...even at very slow speed...do I bend the front (line attachment) screw eye to the right to try to correct?
Thanks,
Cotton

While holding the bait such that you are staring it in the face, bend the line tie to the left. It doesnt take alot of movement of the tie, so go easy, just keep giving it little nudges until the bait runs true. Also, make sure you do not scrape the tie up with your pliers, otherwise you may nick you line when it actually comes time to fish.

Thanks! I took it out yesterday and with your directions, got it to run straight; I bought this bait off ebay and its used, so after a couple of hours of fishing the plastic body tore off from the head part...can I superglue it back?

1499, I glued it

I assume you have the snap on version? Actually, it doesnt matter. I have the snap on and on the first trip a fish tore the tail off. Those tails sink. Anyway, after that I said screw it, I completely super glued the tail to the head section. No more snap on! I dont know how hard its going to be to get off when I need to replace the tail, but thats something I was willing to live with.
