1795, fluke shimano rod?
Posted by ben23, Fri May-27-05 05:58 AM
yesterday I was fishing with my shimano spinning rod and a fish inhaled my senko and went for the underwater trees. After a few seconds it broke free from the trees and i tried pulling it away from it. As i did that the rod broke in halfand so did the line.

This was the second time this particular shimano rod had broken on a fish. How do i get a replacement, or am I just going to have to buy a new one?

God bless

BEN

ps: i nailed my 8th citation of the season yesterday.....4.3 pounds

Heres a link to the customer service number at shimano,

http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/us/en/fishing/customer_service.html

I bet they could help you ,they have been very good to me as far as my reels go .also whats a citation? I've took fisheries biology a couple of semesters and hadnt heard of that kinda fish.also i noticed you might be religious heres a cool quote i heard recently i think from Mark Davis;
"Some people sit in church on sunday and think about fishing,I on the other hand fish on sunday and think about God"
that pretty much sums up the way i am,and the Jehovas/missionaries who come to my door cant argue with that one.
tight lines,
brian :-)

thanks

a citation is an award for a fish of a certain size. If i were to turn in all of my citation fish i would get little plaques saying that I just caught a "big" fish for maryland waters.

in MD 5 pound bass are pretty rare, so they are considered award fish

a bass over 3 pounds is a citation

this year i have a handful of awards and citations, so its been a good year soo far.

Good quote, I go to church in the morning, then i go fishing afterwards:D I'm pretty good at blocking out all of my fishing thoughts during service because my church has a pretty funny/ captivating speaker

ah cool ,I wish we did the citation thing out here ,but we'd probably have to keep it to the ten and up bass.

Ben here's what you do, cut the rod down to the handle and where the model number is on the rod. Then send it in with your name, address and all that info. Write a note explaining what happened and they'll send you a new one. By cutting the rod down you can save on shipping costs and they just deystroy the rods anyways.

Hope that heped!

All I know is shimano rods suck, for 50 bucks I atleast expect something that will last through 1 season. Anyhow I am through w/ cheap stuff you get what you pay for and shimano is overpriced but they do make up for that in service.

I have to disagree on the Shimano rods. I feel there is no better rod in the $49.00-$99.00 rod catigory than Shimano. Being on a tight fishing budget I have used numerous "cheep" rods and in my opinion Shimano rod especially the Clarus offer the most bang for the buck. They are light, sensitive, strong (I have no clue what you did to break your rod TM, I have had mine praticly bent in half) and most of them have a lifetime warantee. I own a Loomis (GLX) and it is a very good rod, but my $60.00 Shimano is pretty damn good, and for the money they can't be beat. I have broken Loomis, Kistler, Fenwick, BPS, and Berkley rods, and most of the time it was not the fault of the rod but rather user error (creased a rod in a rod locker, puller WAY too hard on a snag ect) that is why I always look for a rod with a lifetime warantee.

Also remember Shimano owns Loomis

i have 2 Claruses also (one spinning one baitcasting). you cant ask for more of a rod for <60 dollars. they are good rods for the money.

I still love the V-rods, a bit heavier then the GLX, but lots of good sticks- I'm liking the new Crucials a lot-

I argee w/ Magmaster for domestic rods GLX are the best you can get some better rods from japan but if you break em' your screwed I am not at all tough on rods the only ones I have broke in years were 2 clarus 6'6' M both of the tips broke off w/ setting the hook I will never buy another. If you buy a cheap rod you get what you pay for. NUFF SAID
