2064, How to run Trolling Moter cable through floatation?
Posted by Urban, Sun Apr-03-05 07:37 PM
Ok, heres my problem. I am trying to figure out how to run the trolling motor cable through the flotation on the front deck of my boat.

In this image (the first one, not sure what order these are gonna show), you can see the hole I want the cables to come through, and the flotation can be seen inside.

In the second photo, you can see the hole, and if you look, you can see how I currently have the cables running. I want the cables to first go through the hole near the trolling moter (upper right hand corner of the deck), then come through the flotation and out the hole shown in photo 1.

My only problem is how best to "cut a tunnel" through the flotation to the first entry location. At this point, I can only think to take a broom handle and shove it through the flotation, and hope my angle connects with the first entry point. Any suggestions on how best to do this are apporeciated.

Are there any stringers or supports that you know of that may obstruct your cable? I do not know if there is a good answer out there for you on this. You may want to post over on bassboatcentral.com their bass boat resoration board has a bunch of knowledgeable guys that may be able to help.

Another good source is the Aluminum Boat and Repair Board:

They've helped me out a lot.
