What size split ring should I use for a Huddleston ROF 12?

Does anyone know of anywhere I can order the Owner Hyper Wire split rings online other than Tackle Warehouse (out of stock) or Owner themselves? I've tried the big e-tailers (Bass Pro, Cabelas, etc)already.

Any comments on the Shimano Crucial swimbaits rods. I may be interested in one for throwing the Huddleston but am a little undecided if I should go for their heavy(5"-8") or extra heavy rod(8"-16") rods. I'm not likely to fish anything larger than the Huddleston (upto the ROF 16) but am concerned about having enough hooksetting power with the rod rated for 5" - 8" swimbaits given I will at times fish the Huddleston without the treble.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

I would go with #6 sized hyperwire split rings for the huddleston.

As far as getting them, I don't know anywhere besides what you've already mentioned. TW is working agressively to get Owner products in faster because stuff like the bigger trebles and the split rings keep selling out. They'll probably have more in soon.

I demo'ed the Shimano Crucial X-Heavy for the rod review section a few weeks ago. They are nice rods and the actions are really swimbait actions not some re-marked blanks. For huddleston, the X-Heavy is what you would want. The Crucial X-Heavy is not as stiff as the Okuma X-Heavy, but it'll get the job done on the huddleston baits.

I've been experimenting rod wise with the huddleston and lately I've been throwing it on my Calstar 800L just because I am getting so many fish that are running up and hitting it and coming off before I can do anything. With the 800L the rod is so beefy in the handle that the fish can't pull the tip down at all on the strike. It's been working well but you still just miss a certain amount of fish on the huddleston, even on the ROF12 with the hook on the top and two stinger hooks...

The only other option if you're really desperate is to order directly from Owner. They charge more when you order from them.

Charkbait has the split rings. And by has, I mean had when I was looking at various stuff, but I haven't been on their site in a while. If memory serves me right the split rings cost a little more there, but I'm not positive.
