For my Christmas wish list I'll be asking my wife for a new 7' medium power fast action casting rod. I've narrowed down my choices to either a St Croix AC70MF or a Kistler KCBS7 Crankbait Special. They both are made in the USA . This would likely be my general purpose rod for lmb's, crappie, etc. The St. Croix sells for $155 and the Kistler is $139. Between the two which would you recomend? They both seem like really good rods so wouldn't it be wise to go with the Kistler and save $16?

I know this won't solve your dilemma, but I own a He70MC and I love it. The Kistler rods, at least the helium, are terrific. Definitely quality rods. Basically, what I am trying to say is that I don't think you would be sacrificing anything by choosing a kistler over bigger names like st croix.

Both are great rods, you won't be disappointed with either one. The best thing to do is go to the shop put a reel on it and see what feels best in your hand. St Croix Avid's are light and well balanced.

I love the kistlers they are really nice sticks. I have a few of the graphite series rods and they have worked real well for me. I don't have that specific rod, but I have heard rave reviews about the Kistler cranking sticks and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the kistler.

Right now I have 4. Two Heliums and 2 graphite models. I'm ordering another in a couple weeks.

Me too! 3 Kistler Helium 7' MCs and one HE76HC and HE76XHC. The las two are for my swimbaits.

Don't have a graphite model as I use the MC Heliums for treble-hook baits and they work better than any rod I've ever used plus, they weigh about 4 ounces.
