2609, Assalt Ringer worm rigging question

I am trying the ringer worm texas rigged at my local pond and got a few bites by keep missing the hook set. I am using an EWG 2/0 hook with the point hooked through one of the rings at the top to keep weedless.

Is this a reasonable set up? Should I not stick the point through the ring? What is the proper hook size/style to use with them?

Sonny,

I had some good luck with the ringer worm this spring. I was using a 5/0 offset round bend gamakatsu worm hook:

I didn't have any problems with missing fish or losing fish with this setup. It's a little less weedless than an EWG style hook, but it makes the hookpoint angle up instead of pointing toward the eye of the hook. Make sure to give them a good solid hookset too.

Thanks for the info Rob. I will try the offset hook. Btw, how are you using the ringer? Pitch/cast/t-rig/c-rig?

If you ever order from GYCB, the next time get a few packs of their Sugoi hooks. I use their 4/0 for Senkos, worms, crawdads, and many other soft-plastics. GY designed them and Gammy makes them. They are the best skin-hook/Tex-spose hooks IMO. They rig perfectly, stick 'em good, and the Bass don't come off.
