What do you guys think? It's a 7 footer rated 12-30, sounds like it has the right specs for a flipping rod without the extra 6 inches. Is that gonna hinder me in any way? The only reason I ask is because I can get one for about half price brand new. Thanks for any replies.

Hey Jake
I haven't pulled on that rod so I can't say too much about that. The rating seems right but the thing I'm not diggin is the 7'0" length. Unless you're directly over 'em it seems a bit too short.
I had a Graphite USA 79F wrapped for Flippin revolver style w/ Fuji Concepts. The first guide is way up there so I can reach up and take a big bight of line when I draw back. There is only an inch of cork in front of the exposed blank reel seat and 3" of cork behind it. Raw blank till a weighted Fiji butt-cap.
This rod works absolutely insane. Perfectly balanced with a Shimano Castaic Super Free. 20# Clear P-Line CXX.
Hope this helps
Peace

I've fished Gill's rod, and it's Killer! He know's his stuff, so take his advice.
BTW, EB, nice pic of the custom bent jig.

Also will be using the 79XF which will double as a 20# saltwater stick =) Awesome rod, especially for half the price!
