The weighted hook thread has me asking another question. What is the prefered method of rigging these baits. Screw lock weighted hooks look like they will have the least damage to the bait as opposed to the weighted hook that you push the eye thru under the head.
As for the Hammer, is there any way to rig it weedless? As for the Hammer, I would like to try a weedless rig, so I can try and avoid the snagging in the kelp off the jettys.

Thank you guys!!!

Wait until Rob comes back next week. I think he has a weedless rig for the Hammers.

On my minnows I prefer a 4/0 1/4 ounce Falcon hook. I like it better than the screw in hooks because once the bait is rigged all you see is a little minnow. It is weedless and very natural looking.
With the screw type the fish gets to see some metal sticking out of the front of the bait. Does it matter? dont know for sure but I want every little edge I can get.
As for hammers, you can wrap some fine wire around the barbes of your leadheads just behind the head and form a wire weed gaurd. You can also drill a small whole at the top/back of the head and glue in a fiber weed gaurd. Basicaly you turn the leadheads into weedless heads just like regulas bass jigs.

No screw ins for the minnows, thanks for that info Matt
And I think I'm going to try the drilling in a whole in the leadhead. And glueing in a wire guard.

Thanks!!
