I finally finished my recarpet job. It actually ended up being a complete overhaul. I had to rip out old carpet, scrap out all the old fiberglass on the floor that was lifting, put new fiberglass and epoxy the floor, wet sand the oxidized top cap and spend hours buffing and polishing and waxing, then I finally could install new carpet. The whole boat and trailer were a complete mess when done, so I spent another day cleaning every inch of the boat and trailer, even waxed the trailer. I decided while I was at it I might as well put a new trolling motor on since I was having problems with the old one. Only took just over a month to complete, but I think it turned out awesome. Now its time to get it on the water and mess it all up again. All I have left now is to get new decalls that had to be removed to sand. Thanks to everyone who talked me into doing it myself. I really enjoyed it even though my wife would say otherwise. Nice thing about doing this is you really learn how well your boat is built, and mine is in great shape structurally and now it looks great too.
