i was just wondering if anybody thinks the 6'' platinum would be good for spots @ oroville and shasta. i've had a hard time hooking fish there on the huddleston (and they weren't small spots either)
i just thought maybe the 6'' platinum would hook spots better since it is so much smaller

I think the Matt Lures 6" trout would be great! It is like the old castaic just much more detailed. The platnium would also be a good choice but I have had issues w/ duribility on that bait.

thanks guys, i'm just gonna have to try it out and see, it is a very eratic bait, the total opposite of a huddleston

I have had great success with the Castaic Threadfin for large spots. It covers alot of water and spots seem to really like it. You can fish deep water with it by carolina rigging it. Just make sure to use a 6-8 foot leader. Kind of a pain to get used to, but it works great. I have dozens of spots over 5 pounds caught on the Threadfin. Also, not a swimbait, but the old style Castaic Craw works wonders on big spots. One of my two 7 pound spots was caught using the Craw. Good luck! JT
