2750, Ken Huddleston's New Grass Minnow
Posted by Matt Peters, Wed Oct-14-09 06:40 AM
I figured this would be a great forum to provide a sneak peak at Ken's new grass minnow. The grass minnow is a mini version of his 6" Weedless bait, but has a horizontal line tie, and is an anatomically correct baitfish (vs. trout). Its a small, tight swimmming, weedless little morsel.

This bait is approx 3" long, and weighs approx. 3/8 ounce...something like that. Don't hold me to that! It doesn't weigh an ounce, I can tell you that. I was throwing it on a 7'2" Shimano Cumara, 15# P-Line Florocarbon, and a Curado 200 SF. Not exactly rhino hunting gear.

Ken got me the prototypes for Lake Guntersville. I had a tournament out there last week, and the fish seemed pretty keyed on small bait around the grass. It was hard to get them to eat...they'd seen every buzzbait, spinnerbait and fluke a million times. The grass minnow went to work immediately for me, and caught those fish. I had 13 pounds the first day of the tournament on the grass minnow and frogs. Somehow, I blanked on Day 2. We had crazy wind and my areas got blown out, muddy, and just ruined. I still should have been able to adjust, but that is a different topic.

Here are some pics for ya, stay tuned, Ken is gonna release these soon, and I'm planning on putting together an in depth article for Ken on the bait too:

Double rig, palomar knot, drop shot weight style. VERY INTERESTING.
