785, Not a Beaver

Well it's not a beaver, but it should work like one :P I'm not sure how the gap in the tail is going to work? It might cause the bait to get hung up? I'll find out next weekend. I was hoping that it would make a couple of bubbles as the water passed through on the way down. The claws/tail are connected but can be split like in the 1st pic.

I reversed the body so it will slide through the thick stuff even a little easier. One thing I like about the original beavers are the little paddles on the side and how they point downward. That can only be achieved with a 2 piece mold. I have some handpours and don't care for the paddles as much :-( They still work fine though :-) I just cut the paddles in half. You still get the extra appendages, just not as big and they won't get caught up on things. It's not a great looking bait, but I think it will work just as good?

These are the things I do when I'm not fishing :+

Very cool Jake I think it will work just as good as a beaver, I catch a ton of fish on my hand poured beaver I accualy like it better because the arms are real flat and causes a slower fall. Anyhow let me know how it works.

Here's the final product. Had to change the body a little. Including adding a bigger 'head' area to allow for better hook rigging. Right now I think the plastic is a little harder than I want, but I caught 7 bass up to about 2 lbs on 1 bait :-) and the bait is still usable. It has no problem sliding in tight spots and not getting hung up. I'll probably soften up the plastic a little bit though.

I will have them at the Open. If you want em before that you gotta come up with some shipping money. Shouldn't be a problem for a college graduate like you :P If you want some now drop me an email and we'll work it out.
