4841, Banned at Casitas for 28 days
Posted by offduty, Tue Mar-04-08 09:19 AM
Well it finally happened I got banned in my Ranger 185 today. The ranger that inspected my boat got out a flashlight and looking between my batteries in about a 3/4" slot saw come grime on the bottom of my boat. I guess it is my fault as I knew the rules. To clean this area I would have to pull all 4 batteries and the trays that have silicone around the holes to clean. I guesss I figured I was okay due to the fact that I had been getting in for the past month or so. Fortunately I have a 15' bass boat that I can use. All I need to do is put a trolling motor and fishfinder on it which I have been meaning to do for quite some time and then I willl have 2 complete boats. Thank god I have a back up, I go on vacation on the 17th for 11 days. Be careful and good luck.
Peace
Rich

That's where those Quagga mussels like to hide, in and around batteries... LMFAO! What a joke!

I'm kinda thankful I fish 'infected' waters...not much of an inspection process going in and soon we will get the boat washed on the way out :P

No it is not your fault. It is an irrational rule made with logic limitations. Grime between the batteries does not provide a living condition for the mussels and if it did why not allow you on the lake after the grime is cleaned up. I look at it as a “fix it ticket.” It’s like saying, you have a taillight out so I am writing you a ticket and even though you fixed it you cannot drive your car on a public highway for 28 days. Once the problem is satisfied why does someone have to pay their 28 day’s punitive damages. I would be furious if I was getting on the lake multiple times then a ranger spins me at the gate with the boat being in the same condition as when I was getting on. This leads me to believe the conditions for entry changes daily. You said “I guess it is my fault, I knew the rules” don’t be so hasty in taking blame. If you been getting on the lake, then one day you get spun is it really your fault.

What does it matter who's fault I can't get on in that boat for a while. Thankfully I have another and I just finished installing 3 new batteries and all I have left is to put the spare troll motor in the mount and wire it up, install the fishfinder and put some trim tabs on to help me get up easier. I have not fished this boat since 02 and was going to sell it but it looks like it will be handy to have a back up. Sorry I am not part of the text generation I have no idea what LMFAO means or if that post was sarcasm or blasting me. Take care guys it is just a small set back for me and I am not going to let it get me down or keep me off the water.
Peace
Rich

Being banned is awesome...not. Well at least I only have to wait till the pre spawn bite is done when I can go back on the 14th. I also got in with no problems the previous 5 trips to casitas, but I guess 6th time's the charm. "LMFAO" means Laughing My F*#@!^* A$$ Off by the way.

Well if someone got a laugh I guess something good came out of it.

Rich, no disrespect was meant towards you with my post. I'm laughing at how ridiculous it is they are banning someone for build-up around the batteries.

I can't believe how they are finding anything and everything to ban good law abiding boaters...pretty sad situation.  I'm glad you have a back-up boat, just make sure it's IMMACULATE & Dry... :+

I've been going over it with a fine tooth comb. Has anyone ever replaced an outboard water pump before? If so how hard is it. looks like the 40hp Mariner outboard gave up the pump, It runs great but not much water discharging.
