I've fished Pyramid 'bout 5 times since it reopened, and I've done well each time(5 fish Average). Trick is, get there early, head out right around the first buoy and watch for boils. Also the first big point to your right is good. What's been working for me are two lures: A 4" rainbow back, white belly top water Zara spook-type poper(bought at a Korean shop in L.A. Don't know brand) and a 4" shad Rapala shallow runner. I cast it past the boil and swim it just under the surface at a semi-fast retrieve. The popper, I just throw right in the middle of the boil and twitch it. The trick is to keep your eyes open and try to guess which direction the schools are heading, so as to try to get there first. I fish from a kayak, so it pays to guess right. It's fun stalking these fish from a yak. If you make it out there on Wed. I'll be there. I'm also bringing some Rebel broken backs and some bigger crankbaits, some white bucktails w/a power grub(white). Also, does anyone know the regs regarding making bait at Pyramid?(catching shad, etc) For latter, I'm bringing a bait rig (carolina rig) and anchovies. Trick is to find the thermoclime(set your fishfinder to high sensitivity) and the fish will be cruising just above it. Slow troll will do the trick. I've seen other guys trolling w leadcore and chovies and they were doing well. Hope this helps. Good luck.
