For a good entry level boat Creek Company's ODC 816 is hard to beat.
Cabelas has them on sale right now... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0001576314536a&type=product&cmCat=Search_Results_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=creek+company&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=creek+company&noImage=0
Whatever you decide on though try to get an aluminum frame it won't rust and your back will thank you for it.
Here's a link to an awesome pontoon/float tube club based in your area. http://www.bass-n-tubes.com/index.html Check out the photos section, particularly the kickboat and float tube rigging gallery to see what some people have done to their pontooons.
The calfishing.com float tube/kickboat forum is the official forum of the Bass-n-Tubes club so post your questions there and you should get plenty of help.
Next years schedules should be coming out soon!
