12176, Lake Hodges re-opens on Feb. 7th...

Lake Hodges re-opens on Feb. 7th for weekend fishing. Best of all, still no bass boats, ramps are closed. Sorry boaters, but this is a tubers/yakers paradise. Last year and the year before I had quite a few days of incredible fishing, without having to watchout for rockets moving from point to point.

Anybody up for joining me on the 7th?

Amish Ed,

Sounds like a great day of fishing.

Can you provide some details? Do you need a permit or reservations?

Do you have a contact number for the lake? What time do they open?

I did see the requirements for float tubers:

Use of float tubes is restricted to within 150 feet or less from shore. Float tubers must wear chest waders and have a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device readily available at all times, and have 144 square inches of international orange visible at least 12 inches above the water line. They must also possess a horn or whistle to warn approaching craft.

Looking forward to fishing,

Rod

Sorry, just got back on line after a little break. No reservation needed as far as I know, you do have to pay though. $5 to fish, 5$ to launch. Not sure how tough they are on the tube rules. I know Sutherland has similar rules, but they never enforced them when I tubed there in my wetsuit, kicking wherever I wanted. I'll post again next week with whatever info I have. Think you'll make it?
