1311, Any Oso Reports????
Posted by hookup90247, Sun May-06-01 06:04 PM
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to know if anyone has been out to Oso lately? I was planning a trip out there but I haven't heard how it is? I know that the WON has been saying that its been good but you never know? I would rather rely on fishermen like all of you for accurate reports!!! Thanks...I can't wait to hear!

Oso has been pretty fun- lots of fish but they are all skinny as hell- we call them surfboards! Still better then average, worth fishing for sure. If you've seen any of the articles in Western Outdoors or Western Outdoor News on the new Mission Fish weedless swimbait, both articles have a nice picture of Mickey Ellis, the creator, with a nice 8.5 out of Oso last month. There are some nice ones in there.

Hey Bassnet,

Where does a guy get Mission fish baits?

Website?

Local shops in OC?

Thanks.

Matt- contact Jason Gruner at Shimano- he's buddies with Mickey- tell him Chris sent you- his number is (949) 951-4113. I'm not positive, but I think Mickey would be stoked to have you throwing his baits. They really are nice. He's nailed fish over 16 at LMV, and is just starting to get his business off the ground. The 8.5 he got out of Oso was pretty nice, that lake is not producing too many big fish these days. I fished Oso the other day, nailed a bunch of fish, but all were skinny little guys. My buddy nailed a real nice one, looked like a six pounder except it went Allie McBeal- probably weighed 3.5. Really long with a big head but skinny as he!l! I know he's got some shops carrying his baits, but not sure which ones.

Gracias for the info..

I hear Anglers Marine's got 'em. My buddy Cameron works there and let me know what those baits are all about. I'm gonna have me a couple of them for sure.

Sounds like Oso needs some fishery management...that's funny I thought Bob had a PhD in that stuff! Maybe it's a MBA in BS!

Okay sorry. I like Bob and Oso...it's just a funny place...you know?

Bob has always been cool to me, but I still want to see the shad they say they are going to stock in there. I remember also a few years back the Peters Canyon promises that never worked out! As long as they are doing their best, that's cool with me. Sometimes sh!t happens, I guess!

Bassnet,

That's a great attitude. Bob is a good guy, and I don't mean to clown him. I've just always got a kick out of the way that place is run!
