Anyone been out at Margarita or Lopez as of late. I kayakfish and since the rockcod season is closed right now up here I'm looking to get out to do some bassin. I'll probably be going out soon to either of these lakes just to get on the water.

If you want to catch fish, I would elect on going to Naci (its not that much further for ya) The fishing has been great lately. And if you like to fish the local lakes you should check out the New Central Region of Bass-n-Tubes, we will be having Tournaments at the local lakes each month starting Feb. 25-26 at Naci. Check out the Floattube/kickboat forum down below for more info, I have also been posting flyers at all the local Tackle and Kayak shops around....I will be posting some at Cuesta and Poly soon...

Now, as far as the action goes at Lopez or Margarita, I havn't been to either in a couple of months, so hopfully someone can help on that...Spring should be really good at both this year though...

Sounds like Naci is the place- just got off the phone with my buddy prefishing the 100% Bass tourny this weekend, it was really good today, the spotties are getting fat in Naci right now and they're chewing-

Not stoked I decided to bail on Naci for a saltwater mission in Mex that's going to get blown out this weekend :(

Gonna try to hit it up soon though, gotta love fat spotties

Thanks for the replies, might have to give Naci a try, and those Tourny's sound excellent!! This may sound very newbish but the "spotties at naci"? How do you fish the Spot's? To make it short, is it more like a Smallmouth or a Largemouth tactic? Thanks.

Ok, I will probably get shot for saying this, but I am one to help ya out...Two of the best techniques going are working a Brown Jig or Dropshoting. Ofcourse Darterheading is good and on a day like today with the rain, Don't leave home with out the spinnerbaits!

In answering your question, personally I would say that it is more of a smallmouth tactic (coming from someone that has very little smallmouth fishing experience. Naci is mostly rocky shore line...and that is what the spots love!

The fishing at Naci is as advertised been there a few times now cathing 20 to 25 spots. They are everywhere stop at any point and drop a worm, jig, dropshot will produce. Margarita went there recently and had one 4.5lber bite for two of us about 6 hours of fishing. Water is cold and muddy not a good combo. Spring should be good but just not yet.....BassMan

yeah, it was good for my friends, they finished second with 13.9 lbs. on blades and the Texas rig- biggest spot was 3.6 for them, very nice. Way better quality then Naci has had in the last few years. Sure beats dragging dines for a couple short butts off Coronado in the wind, ouch! Nice photos, Bassman!
