For the last two years Henry and Jake have worked to put together a calfishing BASS Fantasy Bass competition. I know participation wasn't big but his year we are going to step it up. Mark from Okuma has pledged a low profile Cayenne reel and Henry is donating a couple of his custom wood rats (super cool). More prizes are in the works. We'll figure out exactly who gets what, but figure that the worst case if you win is that you score a free reel :)

Here's the short version of what you need to do to sign up and play for these prizes:

1. Sign up on between Feb 3 and Feb 19.
2. Pick a team
3. Request the group password from Henry via calfishing@gmail.com
4. Join the calfishing group.
5. Play all season

Here is the longer version:

BASS tourneys start with the Bassmaster Classic Feb 19, 2010 and end with the Arkansas River tournament June 17. The Elite Anglers will be once again fishing two California tournaments, the Delta and Clear Lake. Here's the .

A participant is allowed to play in a group. Our group is exclusive. It, of course, is called calfishing and you will need a password to join the group. Each participant will pick a team of five anglers. You can keep the same team for every event or change your team each event. Each Elite Angler is given a value preceding each tournament. The system does not allow a player to pick the five best anglers because it will put you over the salary cap. After each tournament day your score will be tallied and your place in the competition will be computer calculated.

. Don’t let it scare you; it’s easer than it sounds.

Registration starts Feb 3, 2010!

Henry Shorr will be helping. He will be taking care of all password requests by email. The email is calfishing@gmail.com. The reason the
password is not listed on the forum is our group is exclusive. If you have a friend that wants to participate he must register on this site first.

If any of you works or has connections in the sport fishing industry, donations to this competition will be graciously accepted. Please contact Henry

It looks like we can't register or pick a team until Feb 9th. They still have last years info up but I looked at a message board they have up and found out that the new season will pick up 2/9.

Thanks for your post. That explains why we do not have anyone registered. Meanwhile I will be searching out prizes.

Hey Guys.

The Fantasy Bass site is finally open for registration, picking your entries and join the calfishing team.

I have picked my team and have discovered there is a new 2010 format for picking teams. The elite anglers are divided into A B C categories depending on how they finished 2009. You will get two A picks two B picks and one C pick. I do not know if this format is just for the classic or for the season, either way it is an interesting twist.

I have had a conversation to my friend Oliver at hookeduptackle. Oliver stated that the members at calfishing.com have supported him and he feels the least he can do is donate to our competition.

Sign up guys!! WIN FREE STUFF!!

I just signed up. I have never done fantasy sports. This was pretty simple. Could add an exciting twist to watching the Bassmaster tourneys!

Henry, question for you. Is it supposed to be a secret who is on your team?

Just got word the guys at Big Hammer are going to donate a $30 bag of hammers :)

Rob

Short answer is no.

A player cannot view another player’s picks. With the last two years format a player, after the tournament is completed, can view all other players’ picks, which is interesting to see how other competitors formed their teams. I am assuming it will be the same for the 2010 competition.

If a player wants to disclose his picks that is fine however there is not an advantage to do so.

Thanks for the donation Brian#2 and Big Hammer.

I had skeet on my team. The night before the tournament I read an article on the BASS website regarding practice. Skeet was interviewed and said “This is the toughest I have ever seen the delta.” I figured he was going to have a bad tournament so I booted him off the team an inserted KVD. One heck of a mistake six hours before the tournament.

I had Skeet, it's hard to go without him or KVD on any body of water. The rest of my team stunk it up though.

I had Skeet...he was the only one on my team that was fishing come Saturday and Sunday!
