4609, Suggestions for fishing with son?

I'll be taking my son camping up at Lake Silverwood (So. Cal. San Bernardino area) in 2 weeks. Need help on what type of rig to set him up with (4 years old) for fishing there. He's fished several times at commercial ponds and off the docks in Texas, but at all times he's used a simple bamboo pole, no reel, with line tied on the end and a nightcrawler on a hook, with a weight and bobber. (has worked just fine) Is there any need to do anything different? I grew up fly fishing for trout in mountain streams in New Mexico and Colorado and know next to nothing about bait fishing in lakes.

Also, any suggestions for a reputable tackle shop in the San Fernando Valley?

Thanks.

I don't know about anyone else, but I caught my first bass at Silverwood using a split-shot rig and last year caught a couple of bass with a drop-shot rig. The Cleghorn cove is a good spot, by the way will you be using a boat? The best fishing at Silverwood is on a boat in the coves. Good Luck!:-)

As far as tackle: J & T Tackle in the Simi Valley should be able to hook you up for Silverwood.;-)
