We fished June last year. Caught fish on Pin's minnows and Thomas Bouyants. I just used my trolling motor and cruised the shore like fishing for bass. You could see the roving schools of planters and they would usually bite if you didn't get too close to them. We fished Gull one day and the bite was tougher. Did see some cutthroat trout cruising around but couldn't get them to bite. My favorites on that side of the sierras are Crowley, South Lake, and Intake II. Crowley is gross looking with the algae but the fish fight harder than anywhere else and can be very acrobatic. South Lake I like for the scenery and the fact that there is usually a good number of Alpers and browns in there. Intake II has a ton of small browns that just love the Pin's Minnow. Even if they are 7 to 12 inches they are a ton of fun.

WWhere is your main camp going to be out of? I could give you some tips close to where you may be camping. Also if you get a chance to fish some Mini-Jigs those are always deadly for trout! Also try some split shot Power worms for the trout!

Bruinfootballfan!!!

we will be camping out of Deadmans Creek.. That's the only place I'm familiar with that's free, plus it's kinda in the middle I guess? I'm tempted to put the trip off a week, from what I'm reading in the weather reports we may get hit with some thunderstorms..

First off, let me just say...........GO BRUINS!!!!!

Great to see another BRUIN faithful here on the board. And just for that, you get some of my most reveared(Did I spell that right?) advice on the Bishop/Mammoth areas. Well, I think so anyways. My favorite spots are the ones above Bishop like South, Sabrina, Intake II and the streams, especially. I like to troll the lakes with a Firetiger Needlefish on a weighted line. By weighted line I mean using a 1/4 oz egg sinker, as if I were using an extra big bait set up. I use about a 4 or 5 ft leader from swivel to lure. I coat this with any salmonoid type attractant and usually have a shot at some of the bigger brutes along with alot of just over pansized types. I also like drifting Crawlers or throwing the bubble & fly around any of the high spots, especially the rock pile in the middle of Sabrina. Intake II is pretty productive when fishing the bubble & fly, a blue fox or panther martin and the basic floating crawler. As for the Loop, I use the same methods as the other lakes but I'll also give the medium sized Rapalas in rainbow or firetiger patterns a try and the broken backed styles, as well. I really like the broken backed styles, they seem to entice the fish a little more, for me anyway. And yes, I like adding the extra weight from an egg sinker to get it down into the depths where Big Bertha and her sister, Gertrude, lurk. If you get a chance to venture a little, give Bridgeport a go. I've caught a few good ones in that lake while both trolling and dipping the floating baits. I don't know what condition the lake is in but it usually produces pretty nicely for me. I hope this helps and even though I know these methods aren't exactly a secret for sierra fishermen, they have really produced well for me in the past. Good luck and if for nothing else, remember one thing:

That's me Bro. Lived and fished here all my life and finally got the biggun to take my offering. Unfortunately, the Lake has been mismanaged for some time now. But with all the trash littering the shoreline, you still manage to glimpse some big girls cruising around. I guess that's why I keep fishing it , cause I know there are some real big fish here and it's a challenge to get them to take a bait, and because this is my beloved lake that I grew up fishing.(Hey, she might not be pretty but she sure puts out sometime) Haaaaa .... lol. And heck, it's only a five minute walk to my favorite spots so what the hey. Anyways, good luck, again, on your Sierra trip and always remember:
