Will be camping at Casitas this weekend and taking the kayaks. Any fishing advice on this lake?

I will also be there this weekend, I don't know much about the lake I only fished their once and didn't get a bite.
Someone, his name was Jeff answered this question awhile back on this forum for me, he said top waters in the morning and evening, drop-shot oxblood colored worms during the day in the 15 to 25 foot range.
Have a great time and maybe I'll see ya on the lake.
If anyone with experence at this lake could add anything I also would appreciate the tips.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

I would concentrate on fishing DEEP during the daytime. Fish shallow early (15 ft and less) and as soon as it starts getting bright out, fish from 25 - 50 feet. Downshot 3 and 4 inch Roboworm straight tail worms in Oxblood Light Red Flake and Blue Crawler. Use between an 8 to 12 inch leader between the bait and the weight (1/4 oz). If fishing sucks, and I presume it will, work your baits uphill instead of downhill. As far as the morning bite goes, if you get out real early and it's still dark, throw a black crankbait and hold on. If you get out and it's just getting light outside, throw white buzzbaits on steeper banks. The key is, you have to land the bait right on the bank. If you land 2 feet from shore, you will scare whatever is lurking down there. Cast on the bank if you have to. After you are off the lake, when the sun is down, and the gates are closed, walk back into the launch area and fish the marina with a big worm or a swimbait. This can be really good sometimes and it's not a bust. Last time i did this, I never got a bite in two hours but what I experienced was worth it. As I was fishing on the marina dock, fish were busting all around me every minute or so. Then for 5 minute feeding frenzy, the Bass were chasing the shad out of the water and onto the ramp. These bass were all over 5 lbs and there had to be hundreds. I tried casting to these bass and quickly realized that I didn't stand a chance against what the bass were keyed into. So I sat and watched a 7 - 8 pound bass actually land on the concrete ramp after chasing a shad and eventually wiggle back into the water. It was pretty amazing. Anyways, enough reminiscing and back to the current. If downshotting a small Robo doesn't work, go to the last ditch effort bait. Throw a 3 inch Merlo worm in the Lightning Shad color. If that doesn't work, say 2 hail Mary's and an Our Father and start prayin. And if that fails, there's always the famous Lake Casitas $10 hockey puck burger and fries. Good luck and have fun! Kevin
