6574, More Sneak Peeks for Bass Blast

Below you'll see a photo of the Kanji trout bait that Kevin(DoubleTrouble) was trying to post earlier. The top bait is a 7" Osprey, just to give the Kanji's a little proportion. The hooks are set up in the bait, and in the lower bait you can see the tail treble hook that can be added to catch those short-biting fish. This thing swims very well (even with the tail stinger hook), and would be a good compliment for down-sizing when bass aren't aggressive enough for the bigger baits. Debuting this weekend at BWW for the Bass Blast.

Any approximate pricing? Looks interesting, I'd like to see one in the test pool.

It's going to be around $15-$16. We'll have a short version of the test pool set up for checking out all the new swimbaits.

Brian #1, if you are a good boy, do all your homework, mow the lawn, and finish everything on your plate, I will save one for you before they sell out. If not, you will be reduced to being called Brian #2. Peace!

Ahh, just save me a couple of those Rago baits, Jeff was throwing them in the pool and they are sick!! If I had lots of extra cash, I would toss them at a paddy, looks like a frickin' mack swimming, tails would (literally!) crush them! I'll stick to throwing them in fresh water till I win the lotto though, donating 30$ baits to a 25 pound mako would irk me!!

I made the 2 hour drive down to check out the Bass World West Store and seminars. I have to say it was well worth the drive. Those guys have such a good selection of tackle I was like a little kid in a candy store. I had to have a little of this and a little of that, I finally walked away spending over $250! Also they had some good vendors on hand displaying alot of new baits coming out for next year. The guest speaker John Murray and Aaron Martins were great. Murray gave some really good jig tips that I will have to try on some of our local lakes. Martin talked about a little bit of everything relating to swimbaits. They even had a catered lunch for a good $7.50 all you can eat! Just have to say to the guys down at Bass World West great work and great show.

Jeff,

You hit the nail on the head!!! Talking about a blast...i walked away spending over $800 (all tackle) and i still think i got the better end of the deal! That all you can eat BBQ was the Ace in the hole, that was some AWESOME BBQ, needless to say i was one happy grinding fisherman! I too took in the seminars and learned quite a bit from the both of them. After going to the BWW Blast why should i go to the other stores Bassathon?

I just got back from there and after 760 miles in 10 hours of driving, spending 500+ dollars...Watching Marten's seminar, and Greg Vella's, all I can say is it was worth it. Marten's seminar was good, touched on his "younger" days fishing castaic and casitas etc..., losing a 20Lber at the boat, and other thing about swimbaits that he learned including how they work back east. I think Vella should have been given more time but in the short half hour or so that he had he touched on fishing big baits in japan, and the kind of lakes that they fishand he had some Japanese bass magazines which were cool to look at. they had pictures of big baits not available in the US.. as far as i know...

Onto the tackle selection... sadly i was kind of disappointed although not completely... they didnt have any 12" slammers :'( and their selection of swimbait rods was very slim(due to the fact they were selling the rago's and other swimbaits, and the big bait craze that is going on i was kind of surprised they didnt have more)... although i did end up buying the only Rogue swimbait rod i could find... The vendors had lots of product but since i was mainly there for swimbaits i didnt look at much else... i picked up 2 of the new rago's... but i cant wait for the bigger 9"??? size to come out, they had two to show off but none to sell, look very nice...

Anyways if you are in the area(and not driving 5 hours to get there) it's well worth it to stop by and check out the baits...

PS. If any of you are wondering who I was... i was the red headed kid wearing a bright orange "Carrot Top" shirt... :-)

Like I told you earlier Carrot Top, you are one crazy mutha drivin all the way down here. JK! I was the ugly bald dude who wrang you out. By the way, I find it amazing that you are already home and I live 15 minutes from the shop and just got home (11:00 PM). I just had to kick Aaron's arse at bowling. Note, lets just say that he had an 83 the last game. Ouch! Anyways, thanks for coming down and take care! Kevin Linehan

I too would like to thank BWW for a great show. i didn't have a lot of time, but I was glad just to make it. Of course, my Dad suprising me w/ a late Grad present was cool too. He got me Lowrance X-51. SWEET. Also got some funky wormish crawish things. $6 for 100, and they worked for I bought 'em for too. Last night I picked off 5 spotties/sandies in a very electric tide.

I've digressed though. I want to say a particular thanks too Shimano and BWW for their continued excellent service. And, to Diawa for the free hat they gave to Mateo, he wore it all day. And back to BWW for also kicking down a hat and a crankbait to my Son. He loves that shop like you wouldn't believe. That's saying a lot, since you beat out Home Depot, and they have forklifts. He did have one complaint, "too many people daddy." He's used to being able to run and have fun there.

Sorry, did it again. Also glad to see Brian #1 again, been a while. Also talked w/ Mark Mills from Shimano. Good to see they are treating him as well as they do us customers. And of course, good to see Brian, Kevin, and Chris. You guys looked like hagard, but stoked too. Hope you recover soon and thanks again.

Yeah, had a great time both days. Got to shoot the breeze with Aaron Martens and Mike Long for a couple minutes, and enjoyed the few seminars I was around for. Nice running into Eric Huff, Amish Ed, Cher, and the rest of the gang. Awesome show, I'll definitely be in attendance next year, hopefully both days again. Now you guys get some sleep, I saw Bryan #17 with a Y downing that red bull during Aaron's seminar....

Ha-Ha. Coffee, Red Bull, Wheat Thins and smoked Albacore was our major sustenance thru the show. No wonder I couldn't find Bryan during Aaron's seminar... I must of been the only guy in the building who didn't see a seminar either day. What else is new....

For the Bay Area guys, this looks a like the "Roam Minnow" by Kanji that I bought at Fisherman's Wherehouse in Modesto. The lure that I picked up ($15.00) only has 1 treble hook, like an Osprey.
