Fished pyramid wednesday and saturday. On wednesday they had planted trout a day or two ago so the bite was mile a minute, caught 20 in about an hour or less. Then went out on the boat for a few more hours and caught many stripers, none of them over 2.5 pounds. On saturday I fished outside the launch ramp for trout, though the bite wasn't as good as wednesdays I managed about 15 in about 4 hours and kept 5.

I heard from a friend that was up there on Friday that someone
got a 35 pounder in the marina. The guys that I know were trolling the channel and got a couple that were in the 15 pound class.

What bait/lure are the Pyramid stripers hitting on and what depth are they at? I hope to fish there someday?

The stripers are hitting on anchovies halfway between the dam and the island.Just use a hook and an anchovie with a slipshot for weight about a foot and a half from the hook. And let the bait get down about 20feet or more.

Hey Locust,
Is the hook below or above the split shot? And do you drift or anchor?

Thanks,
Brad

Yes the hook is below the split shot. You can either drift your boat or tie to other boats that tie themselves to the buoy.

That's good to hear someone got a big striper, that's a sleeper lake for the big boys. There has to be some huge trout eaters around. Were your friends trolling trout or shad imitations?

Been debating between there and silverwood and a few other lakes every weekend,so many trout plants so little time to fish!!!

Thanks Shane and good luck with the big fish from Castaic, there has to be a 20+ lurking around!!

anyone have any info on renting a boat at Pyramid? My buddy and I want to charge up there next week, fish the stripes and hopefully smallies- hate the rental boat thing but that is our only option next week- thanks for the info
probably the article in the OC Register today will have it nice and crowded next weekend? We are shooting for the week after-

My advise...put a Motorguide 767 on your kayak!!!

I like the "Great White" better, designed for saltwater...

But if it's not more than a mile or two to the fishing hot spot, then I wouldn't bother with it...

I would like to know a good place to park and launch, preferably away from all the hustle and bustle of the main ramps, and near the best fishing spots...

Silverwood for example has a great place you can drive to, away from the launch area...

The guys are trolling trout plugs. They did a double plant up there
the Mon. before thanksgiving. I heard it was in the neiborhood of 4000
pounds total.
There's no doubt in my mind that there is a 60 pound fish in that lake. I just hope that I'll be the one to hook into it.
