913, A bit of bad news for floattubers

For those of you who know me, you know how I love to fish the Castaic Floattube Tournament every spring. I called Sprots Chalet to get the details and date for this years tourney. I was told over the phone, "The guy who ran the tounament does not work here anymore. We have nobody to run the tournament and have not decided if it will go this year.". I was also told to check back in a week or two to get an update. DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!. Start calling and give that store hell about the tourney (661-253-3883). If you have never been to this event, it is by far the best organized and "sponsor rich" tourney around. This event also has excelent participation with 40 - 90 tubers anually. Talk to you all later, Terry G.

Thats too bad I have fished that Tournament for the last 4-5 years. But, I will tell all my friends that fish it also to give them hell. I hope that they can find someone else to take over because we all look forward to fishing it every year.

Where was this event located? If it is that big it would be great to have Bass-N-Tubes be apart of it.Depending on circumstances I might be able to run it.

John
This was a big tube tourney down on the Castaic Lagoon. My buddy Jamon and I fished it one year, it was pretty cool. There were 50+ tubers down there if you can believe it and they closed the whole lagoon just for the tournament.
Man if we could get 50 guys out for a bass-n-tubes that would be insane

Holy guacamole, 50 bass n tubers!!! I could make plenty of comments, but we'll leave it at that... It would definitely be a bit of a drive for you guys, but it might be worth it. Maybe you could break up the drive into a couple days. Camp out at Margarita or somethin...

Anyone willing to organize this event would have to get ahold of the previous tournamnet director throught the Stevensons Ranch Sports Chalet, fishing department. He could turn you on the all the sponsor contacts. Last year, prizes included 3 float tubes, rod/reel combos, tons of gear, 2 fishin' buddies IIs, and one of those underwater video camera's. There were 10 prize places and at least 30 raffle prizes. Almost everybody went home with something. Oh yeah, everyone got a goodie bag. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. When and for how long has it usually been held?

Tight lines,

This event was held every spring. It started out in the first of April. It was then pushed back to the last of April or first of May to promote better weather and fishing conditions. The event has been every year for at least 5 years, maybe 6.
