A friend of mine had a birthday beach party yesterday up the coast North of Santa Barbara and even though i had little expectation of even attempting to fish in this weather, i brought my rod along. the water was brown and muddy. the wind was howling and the waves were choppy. second cast with a perch grub and i pull in a hefty 3/4 pound perch. the wind was making it pretty tough to keep a tight line but i kept at it for about 20 minutes and ended up with one more smaller perch and had another monster snap my 4 lb leader.

i love going to a random beach with friends and showing them what keeps bumping into their ankles in the surf.
