9345, Santa Barbara Report For 3/23
Posted by CalicoHunter, Sun Mar-23-03 08:15 PM
Launched out of Santa Barbara harbor today with my buddy Cliff Phillips, first off we hit the one mile area out front for 9 calicos and 1 sand bass, after that bite died we ran down to the horseshoe rock off Carpinteria, where we spent the rest of the day. There we had great uphill current and a pretty decent pick on mixed bass with a 2-3lb average. The bass wanted the swimbait literally drug across the bottom with very few fish on the retrieve. We finished up at 12:30pm catching and releasing 42 mixed bass with calicos to 3.5lbs and sandies to 3lbs, all caught on 4-5 Big Hammers, although the 5in outfished the 4in, colors wise anything brow/orange/red fished on ¾-1oz Hammerheads, with a little bit of calico cocktail for taste.
Water temps ranged from 54.0 in the am to 57 in the early afternoon….Larry
