9508, DFG Regulation booklet wrong about rockfish/ling hooks
Posted by salmonoid 1, Tue Apr-15-03 03:36 PM
Section 28.65(c) of the DFG Regulations booklet states that barbless circle hooks must be used for rockfish once a rockfish or lingcod is aboard or in possession. I e-mailed Carrie Wilson, who writes the DFG question-and answer column for the DFG in Western Outdoor News, to inform her of this error. She thanked me for pointing this out, has corrected this error in the regulations at the DFG web site, will correct the error in any further printing of the regulations, and make an announcement in WON closer to the opening of the rockfish season. Single, double, or treble kooks may be used for rockfish/lingcod.
