How's the corbina action doing in Huntington Beach?

Now that the water is warming up, the bite should pick up.

The water has temp has rebounded but nowhere near what it was a month ago. That quick drop completely shut down the corb bite. They were biting real good just about everywhere too. There are a few beaches where the bite seems to have held up but it seems that the majority of the fish have finished spawning and moved off the beach. Crabs are starting move deeper already at some beaches. With any luck we'll get a good late season rebite this year. I've seen it happen before so lets just keep our fingers crossed. I'm going to go check out some of my late season spots this weekend. The post spawn will often produce the seasons largest fish. Good luck and I'll see you on the water.

I think you are right Jerry! I caught/released some fun ones about 2 weeks ago, but haven't gotten any or have even seen many since in So. OC. Snorkeled the area where I surffish last weekend and suprisingly I didn't see one corbina!? I think the sudden water temperature drop due to winds and upwelling made them move as well.

I fished HB DB last Saturday. I caught 4 Corbina and 6 Perch. Nothing of any size, but still fish.

There are still some corbs on the beach down in OC but not as many as a couple weeks ago. LA county beaches are still holding good numbers of fish. I don't doubt that there's still a lot of fish up in SB and Ven counties too. If you really like catching corbina you should try the fishing a further North. Less Anglers and definitely a lot more corbs.

Got some corbina this year, but not a lot...looks like I may have to travel to get more!?

I stopped by DB on HB in OC yesteday after work. Hit the the beach at about 6pm scouting the area for corbs and bait. I found crab beds pretty easily but didn't see any corbs. The conditions looked really good with side pushing curent sweeping the beach and the water felt like it warmed up. Still nowhere near as warm it was a few weeks ago though. I kept at it until I spoted one which bit instantly. No love though. It stripped two baits off me and was on it's way. I kept looking and the later it got the more fish I spotted. I couldn't stay long. I was out by 8pm with two corbina hooked and both lost. I was too lazy to tie on a new hook and the hook I was using was pretty well used. I did get three perch as well about 10" all about the same size and all released. I know I got corb bit several times in addition to the two that I pulled the hook on. I should have let them eat it a little better too. Still slim pickins compared to LA but it wasn't bad. I'm sure if I put some time in to it in the early a.m. it would kick some fish.

Just finished several sunset surf fishing trips north of Manhattan Beach Pier. Excellent action - 4 to 5 quality corbina in about 90 minutes of fishing. 2-3lbs - & few smaller. Water is very warm - lot's of weed & moss in water - but fish still there -
