11817, 4/4 Ventura breakwall, Morning of surprizes

I got off at work this morning at 9 am and headed for the beach for a little stress relief. My favorite places, Santa Claus Lane and La Chonchita were crowded so I headed to Pita's Point. After an hour of nothing I headed further south to the Ventura breakwall. The water was clear and shallow for about 100 yards. I walked out a bit and started casting out my sandcrabs. I had caught a few fat 12 inch perches as well as a few small ones, when surprize #1 hit me and hit me hard. My rod tip was up and I was slowly reeeling in my sandcrab when I got hit hard. My rod bent in half like the letter "U" and I let out a loud, you may even say yelled "Oh S***!!!" but before I finished yelling the S*** word my line snapped!!! :( So much for my 4 pound test line. From what I was told by more experienced fishermen it had to be a halibut, wished I could of seen it. :( But there were more surprizes coming my way. My line had drifted to my far right, so with my left side turned towards the incoming water I reeled it in slowly. The water was clear except for the sandcloud stream my legs made in the mid shin deep water has the waves were outgoing. As I reeled my line in I heard a splash just to my left. Turning just my head to look I saw a Corbina that had to be at least 18 inches long if not 24 inches long. It had followed the sandcloud stream from deeper water right up to my ankles when it turned around (The Splash) and headed for deeper water. I was wondering if it was a fluke or if I could duplicate it again. Well I did twice, except that one appeared just to the left of the sandcloud and then later on the right side of the sandcloud. I had no idea if I was just over tired after having worked my 12 hours shift and then going fishing, or if it was just my imagination, but I was seeing several in the area around me until this beach started getting crowded like the others. Well I got ordered in to work overtime, but when morning comes I will be back out there first thing. Who needs sleep when you are getting excited over Corbinas. Stay safe and we'll see you in the surfline!!!! Cali bear
