No one here will deny that's a quality catch...but to let people think thats a 9 pound calico is a diservice to all reading...most people have never even seen a calico over 7 pounds..much less caught one. Congratulations on your fish either way.

12938, Nice Calicos... Posted by TBrumfield, Wed Oct-27-04 04:51 PM
...I got this one from the rocks last summer on a squid strip. Only had a "human scale", but it did go about 8 pounds on that...23.5 inches in length. My biggest one ever...I was in shock when I caught it. Not much luck on them this year though. Wonder if I'll ever get one like this again in my lifetime?

and mine was just as big, if not bigger than that one. in the picture, you might have noticed the tail is curved towards me. i guess you guys are just going to have to trust me on this one. it was OVER 7. i'm not going to argue though. believe whatever you want.

Try again T. I want to see a picture. I remember when you originally posted about this one. You could probably do a search and find the picture if there was one in the original post. I just thought it was kinda crappy that he got three consecutive posts trying to shoot him down. Shame, shame ;)

Nice Fishy! IMHO looking at the jaw structure vrs your hand, definately over seven maybe pushing eight pounds.
Generally speaking a 5lb calico measures 21in and you get a pound per inch on there on up on average built fish....Captain Larry...
