14528, Haskell's Beach - Goleta - Surfperch - Feb.10

Tried Haskell's Beach in Goleta for a little surfperch. Brought a neighbor/friend (Tim) with me and met my brother-in-law with his two sons. Fished for a couple of hours up to the high tide at around 11:00 am. Water was beautifully void of weeds which is somewhat unusual for Haskell's and made fishing an absolute pleasure. Ended up with 9 average sized perch except for the 13 inch redtail Tim caught. All fish were on Motor Oil Red 1 3/4" Perch Grubs on fast, straight in retrieve. Fish were somewhat close to shore mostly hitting in the calmer water between the waves. Tried dead-sticking and bottom twitching with Pro-Cure gel soaked (marinated) grubs for nothing. They were definitely on the prowl and wanted to chase something down.
