your killing me Rob! I am going on a 2.5 day trip in two weeks and you are getting me all pumped up. 30+lb Yellows are awsome. What size reels and lb test were you useing on the big yellows?

For the big yellows: Calcutta TE 400's with 50 or 65lb braid straight tied to the Big Hammers. Iron fishing was Trini 20 and Trini 20DCs with 40 mono for surface iron or Torsa 20's with 50 mono for yo-yo. I'm not sure if the Trini 20DC is out yet, it may have been a prototype, not sure.

Not really much to say other than rediculi.

I'm glad you decided to go. 15 people on the boat??? Sick. Happy for you Rob. You'll remember that trip for a LONG time.

Must post pics / video

*** EDIT - I would send the Risto Rap back. It looks defective.

I did get some video footage but need to sit down and put it together for the site. Will probably be a few days.

Epic report!

"After it became obvious that these yellowtail had brain damage and wanted to die we started screwing around with the experimental lures"

That made me laugh, and want to head out on one of these type of trips. Thanks for posting, great read first thing this morning.

Yeah, nice trip and great write up and photos. You guys slayed them. How killer is braided line? I love that stuff lately. I can't imagine braid on a 400 TE! Talk about torque.

Super pumped for you and Nico on jumping at the opportunity and making it happen.

What camera were you using? Pretty sweet to see the fish underwater

Its an Olympus waterproof 10mp digital camera. You can find them at Costco or online at www.newegg.com. The video isn't that great but its ok for such a small camera. The waterproof aspect is really nice for fishing, especially on a trip like this.

I have the 7MP version of that camera. I never have taken any video with it, looks like I need to start.
