The beach I am talking about is north of Cayucos, most of the land up here is privately owned but allow courtious trespassers. If you clean up after yourself and respect the beach and water then we will all be able to fish these spots. If you take highway one north past Morro Bay and Cayucos just start looking for sandy steep beaches. Once you get up past San Simeon the elephant seals are abundant and very dangerous I suggest finding a different spot. I like to use motor oil with red flake grubs on a 8'6" steelhead rod or a 7' spinning rod. When the surf is small I like the latter of the two. I also like to throw small spoons and spinners and the big spawners slam these baits. When using spoons dont be surprised to get a striper or two. I rig the grubs on a 18-24" leader with sinkers ranging from 1/4 ounce to 2 ounces depending on conditions.
