17, Cabrillo Beach

I float-tubed the kelp and beach at Cabrillo today. Weather was good, the fishing was so-so. I got one of everything, and nothing very big. Started by hooking a about a 15" white sea bass on a 4" olive and black swim bait. I then picked off a few small calicos tossing a salt n' pepper 3" grub in to the kelp. I then moved out off the beach and scored a couple small halibut, the biggest being about 15". Just before calling it quits, I got slammed hard in 6' of water, but I missed it. About ten minutes later, I got hammered and broke off on something big in the same spot. It must of had teeth because I only got one swing on it before it snipped my 10lb. maxima. Oh well, I'll get hime next time. Terry.
