What did we decide to do on this cuatro de mayo? Well, after watching the Kings game and doing a little boogie skating (don't ask- it involves a boogie board, a skateboard, some rope and rolling down the street...) me and Brian #2 fished the harbor. We got down there at like 8, after the game ended, and started out at the bait barge. With some excellent rod placement, Brian stuck his rod RIGHT where my backcast was and I had a major professional over-run (ok, it wasn't ALL his fault...) which I ended up cutting. So, after that episode, it was pretty well dark. When I was at the harbor with Brandon I noticed they'd installed some lights on the wharf, right under the Harbor Restaurant which shine directly on the water. They're pretty darn bright lights too, so we kicked over there to check it out. There sure was lots of bait around, but that was about it. We each got bumped a couple times, but it definitely wasn't seabass. Felt like little bass or maybe mackerel. I was throwin the white/red squiggle fastrac and a castaic sardine with rattle tail (how bout that for modifications). Brian threw a swimbait, I think rootbeer color or rainbow trout or something. I even ended up pitching a zipper worm to the pilings in an attempt to catch SOMETHING, but I could only throw 3 or 4 casts before we had to leave at 10:30. So, still no white seabass. The conditions sure were right underneath those lights though. I'd like to check it out when they get in here. I could predict some big fish cruisin under there.
