Got in de watta at about 7:00. I threw the castaic swimbait and the lazereye minnow around the bait barge for a while without getting bit. Those #@$%*$! sealions were there again thrashing about and surfacing and causing a ruckus. After about an hour of tossing baits amidst these sealions I was really doubtful that any seabass would venture in here with the pinniped patrol, so I kicked over to the flat where me and Brandon (actually mostly just Brandon...) caught halibut on Saturday to see if I couldn't at least catch myself a halibut. When I got over there I threw around a little bit, but it just looked sooo perfect for seabass, and I kept wondering if the seals had left, and if they did I'd have been missing out, so I kicked back over there after about 10min. of fishing for butts, but the sealions were still there, so I was pissed off and fished until about 8:30 and took off. I think I'll take a couple nights off and let the freakin seals have at it, and I'll give it another shot in a couple days.

Brian,
Did you ever try the fastrac with red hooks? I found that the Bronze hooks I use on my fastracs rust extremly fast, like in an hour, so I coated them with some red fingernail polish(my sister's, I sware!) I also bought some jointed rapalas. Im gonna mess around in shallow this weekend(if those 7 footers ever calm down) and see if that warm weather brought any 'buts in shallow. Im still looking for my first fastrac halibut, all I have hooked so far are macks and mystery fish.
Good luck on the seabass next time, those sea dogs can be a real pain,
Tommy
