Fished the albacore off Ensenada. Our original charter (Tuna Tom) cancelled at 6:30 a.m. so found another skipper willing to take our party of three. On the water at 8:30 a.m. (late start) and the skipper told us that many already had 6 - 7 albacore on board. We headed for 240 and got a double hook-up. I was first up on the troll so cranked in a 10 lb albie - my first, but not too sporting on that gear. Jeremy reeled in the other, also a 10 lb. Jeremy got bit on a paddie stop but it broke off. Got another troll fish that Paul brought in - a 22 lb fish. I got a 10 lb yellowtail on another paddie. We saw other boats with one or two fish hooked up but we never got into a bait bite. We chummed with sardines at every stop but nothing came to the boat. Still early in the season and I'm hoping for a bait fish but the water is already warming and the albacore may migrate out of the Ensenada area soon. Planning on another trip in August.
