4256, Crazy float tuber...laguna again

What was I thinking this AM (or rather at 12 midnite last eve)? After checking the weather forecast and swell model, I figured that I could snag a few bass before the storm came. I went down to south Laguna this time and the surf was small but the sky looked ominous (730). I am sad to report, but I think the boiler bite is gone for the winter (at least on the horizontal grind). The fish were'nt biting well but the wind was. Brrrr cold. I did manage a legal sandy, a short 'but and a fat sculpin (what a joy to deal with in float tube). All were on the 4 inch calicohunter w/ red flake on a 3/4 fishco head. I just blind casted out to deeper water and did the crank-and-drop retrieve. Needless to say, all bites were on the drop or redrop due to the cold water. I was stoked to find my fleece knit beanie in the car and elected to wear it tubing, a very warm and wise decision. Rain hadn't started when I left at 930.
