5347, this week's report

Fished tues. night for about 45 min. trying for surf perch in O-side. One bite, zero hooked.

Fished Shelter this morning from 6:15 to 11:00. Water was a chilly 55, wind was cold and shifty. Slow fishing by Shelter standards. Scratched out a limit of spotties, and one short one. 2 big fish were 2.5. All but two came on Edhogs of various colors, with 5 fish (including the big ones) falling for clear with gold hologram and red flake. But, this color only worked on really shallow structure. The whole area I usually get most of my fish (the island from the ramp East) has been dead for 4 trips now? Lots of clam shells on the beach, perhaps it's time to invent a clam shaped plastic? Clam colors weren't too hot though. The Navy Point is still kicking out the nicer fish though.

haha, clam plastic. Might not have the best action there... If you can catch a bay bass on a piece of plastic in the shape of a clam you will be the man.

Do I sense a challenge? I shall begin working on the Plastic Clamtastic as soon as I get bored.

I fished the surf south side of the Oceanside Pier yesterday morning without much luck. Caught the incoming tide and baited fresh mussel. The water was clean not much kelp. I was hurling a 2 oz. pyrimid and my line held true all morning.

Fished a total of three hours with only two bardies (small) to show for it. Water is still cold. No sign of any sandcrabs yet.

Yeah, that's a challenge. And no fair flylining live clams and/or rocks which imitate clams. LMAO

Aztec, the perchies seem to be rather fickle in the few weeks I've been trying for them. This normal, or am I doing something wrong?

Hey Brian, clam imitating rocks should be in. But how to get them on
a 2/0 wide-gap I'll need some time to consider. As far as action goes, Senkos work, why not rocks?
