5358, Thinking about float tubing
Posted by Aztecwin, Sun Mar-31-02 11:37 AM
I've been doing a little reading on the subject of float tubing and am thinking about checking it out.

Does anyone here do it in the North San Diego County area (saltwater)? If so, where are some good spots for a gremlin to get started? I was thinking about the beach directly in front of the Carlsbad Power Plant. Pretty flat there as far as surf is concerned. Nice sandy bottom. Should be pretty good flatty fishin there. I dought it would be legal at Oceanside Harbor.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aztecwin

Aztec, I live in Vista, but tube SD Bay mostly. If Mission Bay isn't too far, try there first. O-side Harbor is really small w/ lot's of traffic, plus the currents are probably very strong. IMO the fishing isn't even that good there anyways. As for a surf launch for your first trip, I wouldn't suggest it. Tricky, unless it's flat. Then the fishing will probably be slow anyways. You have waders or a wetsuit? Fins?
