5733, Quick report

Ended up at Spanish Landing for my first trip in the yak. Conditions were windy and cold. Water about 61. We did a slowish pick all day. Each of us ending up with around 15 spotties. Rod caught 5 short 'buts and 5 or so croaker. I also had 1 short 'but, and a giant Southern Midshipman. That thing was and easy 3lbs, and fought like a 6+ bass. Big nasty teeth too. No real hot bait for me, fished everything from a 4" tube in watermelon/ black & red flake (my best bait today), cranks,
freaks, and zippers. Rod did good on some funky 3" swimbait that he likes. Don't know what Steve did best on.

Yak notes: almost tipped a few times, but never went all the way. Need to add some more padding for my rump. Covered 3 times the area I would have in my tube. Need to invent a way to drift w/ the bow into the wind/current (that doesn't use a drift chute). Wear a hat (my scalp is cooked). Yeah, I'll probably never buy tube again. Can't wait till I'm in shape, then it's out for the plaid bass.
