5912, Salt Creek Report Posted by TBrumfield, Fri May-03-02 01:13 PM
Surffished Salt Creek from for an hour and a half this afternoon. Conditions were decent, small surf, minimal wind, but there was a fair amount of kelp in the water which was a hassle. Used frozen sandcrabs since there are still only micro crabs around. Caught/released 5 barred perch...all on the small side. Saw no sign of corbina at all. At least I didn't get skunked!

I'm looking forward to some surf action this weekend. Hey Brum, did you catch that story in the North County Times on Thursday about that 38.5" flattie caught in the surf somewhere off Carlsbad?
The lucky angler caught him on a swimbait in what he said was really shallow water. I'm just getting started on the surf/swimbait gig. Can't wait for that first Alabato!

Aztecwin, I did not see the article. That is one heck of a fish from the surf though...I may have to start tossing swimbaits into the surf now!

That good. Also try 1.5 motor oil grubs too.
