5929, Float tube comparisons?

Which is your pick--Caddis Proline 2 or Bucks Bags Hi and Dri 2? Other ROUND tube choices?

( My current tube is a Cabela's by The Bag Maker and the seat is stitching is coming undone after 10 years, not a bad life I guess).

Hey David,
Are both of these tubes round? I switched to a U-Tube about a year ago and like it much better than the round models. I feel they are much easier to kick in, especially if I plan on going any distance during the outing. I don't know if you have considered a U-Tube, but it is worth a thought. I fish out of a Caddis Colorado and am very comfortable in it.
Good Luck,
Dave B.

Hi Dave, both models are round as is my current model. I heard from several guys that a round one was the most stable for open ocean use, i.e. beach launching and fishing laguna as opposed to calm water like a bay. The open or U-shaped ones I was told weren't stable enough except on calmest days. I can see that with the older style U-tubes held by open by a flimsy strap but there's some new open tubes with a removable rigid bar across the front that look good. Don't know much about those though.

David,
Mine has a bar that connects with three clasps at the tube and seat and seems pretty stable, although not as rigid as a round tube. I can see the point about stability in a beach launch, but I think I would be O.K. in my tube entering with caution as would be expected of any launch. By the way I have all of July off work and look forward to finding a day to fish with you somewhere. It is a couple months off, but as we get closer lets make a point of getting together.
