Had three trips to the water this weekend, none were all that hot.

#1: Prefished Mission Bay yesterday, 6:30am-12pm. 1 short sandy and a few bites. I tried everything under the sink, but just couldn't make a love connection. I hope the tourney goes better for me. Steve did better, he had 2 or 3 legals and 4 shorts.

#2 Hit a mystery pond with Rudy, 6:30-9pm. We each got one LM on Senkos. His looked to be around 1.5, mine was maybe 3.5. Lots of jumping bait, a few missed bites, and lots of bugs.

#3 Tried for some BPs in North Carlsbad today, from 2-4pm. Only 2 smallish ones. Current was smokin' downhill, waves were short period annoyances, and the debris was bad at times.

Postfrontal Blues? Slump? Bad mojo?

Hey Ed...I've been in the same slump. NO corbina for the past 3 weeks...only perch and I was skunked even on them a few times last week!?

I've been hearing the nashing of teeth here in the Oceanside Area too guys so evidently this slow start this summer isn't just a fluke. If I ever get over this strep throat I'm going to make a concerted effort to get out of the harbor and put some sand underneath my feet.

I just can't resist the challenge of getting some fresh mussels and crabs and fishing an early morning and evening high tide. From what I've been told, the kelp and grass haven't been that severe.

Later on,usually in August, when we get the tropicals from Baja the surf fishing is almost hopeless. If the salad doesn't nail ya the drift will. Thats when I go in for the night surf stuff. I've had good results in the past but you have to be on top of your game because using only a coleman lantern for light can bring some interesting challenges!
