Anybody ever done this? I am guessing the fish stay on the bed through the night. Will they bite at night? I am not talking about sight fishing for them, but just knowing the area the bedding fish are in and fishing for them. Also, do you think they would hit a MS Slammer at night if they are on the bed? I am going fishing tonight, and I might try this.

that is the kind of answers I like to see...would the slammer be the best choice or would some other soft plastic bait be a better choice?

Yeah I think the Slammer is a good bet. It would not be my first choice but I would have one tied on for sure. I would try draggin' a big jig/brushhog or a 10" power worm through and around the beds.

I have walked around ponds and the SD river at night with a flash light and spotted spawners. I would place a white index card on the ground and I would write notes on them. The notes would say how big the fish was and tell me exactly where the bed was. Then I would come back around REALY quiet and sneaky and fish for them. I always used my gill because and I would just have to guess when it was the female instead of the male. I would wait untill I felt a slow steady pull with out out any taps and I would swing hard. 80% of the time it was her. You dont have to use my gill but I do recomend something that the male will have a hard time with.
