After seeing that huge bluegill post, I thought I would share this.
I luv fishing for bluegill, and fish that look like bluegill.

Black Sea Breaming with Delight

I went to try to hook a small seabass. I say small, because I am in the final phase of testing an 8 1/2 ft. Ultra-Light 2 to 4 lb. rod. I was fishing the rip rap in Osaka bay, when I hooked something huge on 3 lb. Rollercarbon (fluoro) line. It got me in the rocks a couple of times, but the thin line held, and I pulled up this huge Kurodai (Black Sea Bream). It weighted 2050 grams, and was 48.5 cm. long.




There are some that spend a lifetime targeting these fish, and claim that they can only be caught on the liveliest of live shrimp and small live crabs.
A 45 cm. fish is a trophy, and many are made into 'Gyotaku' fishprint art.
I caught another large one a couple of weeks ago, on the same homemade spinnerbait (According to the Experts, these fish can not be taken on lures, they are just 'too smart'. Yeah, right.
I took a while to revive her, and then released her.
There was a 'live shrimp' dude watching the whole thing, and when I released her, he came over and asked "何で逃がしたの” (Why did you release that huge Kurodai?) Not wanting to be impolite, I replied, "Because such a grand fish deserves to be released"
"What did you catch that on? I have been fishing these parts for twenty years, and have never seen one that big"
"I caught it on this" and showed him my chewed up spinnerbait (check out those grinders in the mouth).

"No you didn't. They can not be caught on lures"
I had to leave, so I gave up the spot to the old dude with the blinders on.
I think I can catch an even bigger one on the lures that they don't bite.
