It seems like there will ALWAYS be some kind of controversy surrounding the WR catch.

NO WAY! Fishing in an off limits area of the lake? Man, I've been waiting to hear something. Good update, although, not what I was thinking I'd be reading. How crazy would that be? Of course, something is up, with as long as its taken for some word....this would be par for the course.

If this turns out to be true, I think we'll all just have to assume that the world record bass is cursed. George W. Perry must have put a hex on it, like the curse of the mummy or something :)

I personally think they should give him the record its time for old records to fall, besides I doubt it will be long before it is broken again.

If we didn't follow the IGFA rules, the record would have already been broken and this bass would not have even been close.

Why should they count it. To begin with, it beat the record by 1 oz, not 2, so at best, they call it a tie. But, if the rumors are true about it being caught in a closed to fishing area, not only should the fish not count as a record, but his fishing license should be taken away from him (do they require a fishing license in Japan?)

Tired of seeing the old fish which was probably weighed on a scale which was out dated 100 years ago and inaccurate
